The Amulet Saga is one of the major storylines of Rezephua. It focuses on a small group of elves and humans in possession of a mysterious Amulet,
The Star of Uhul, and their pursuit by various sinister individuals who covet the item.

Tobius and Kalerin had got hold of the amulet a month previously in the Old World shortly after their first meeting, when their respective groups were attacked and slaughtered by a skaven assassin (later revealed to be the Narrenzarth Skretik). Realising that the amulet must have some value, they took it to Ulthuan where Tenaril attempted to divine its powers, only for his efforts to be defeated by the magical wards on the artefact. Deciding to try and appeal to a more powerful force, and recognising some of the markings on the amulet itself as being lizardmen glyphs, they boarded a ship for Rezephua hoping to convince the Slann to aid them.
Unbeknownst to any of them they were by now being followed by the wraith Yaerdor, the spectral adversary of The Exodians. Determined to keep the amulet out of The Master's clutches, Yaerdor began secretly keeping an eye on the elves and Tobius, rescuing Kalerin after he was defeated and knocked unconscious in the Arena of Pahnik 4.
Before Tenaril could gain an audience with the Slann Lord however, The Showdown broke out. During this, Kalerin was separated from the other two, having already been outside the walls when the lizardmen forcibly evicted all the non-reptiles from the city. The Narrenzarth Damien Theremhoff also appeared at this time, searching for the elves. Yaerdor approached the distinguished duellist Xaos the Lucky and was able to persuade him to dispatch the Narrenzarth during the arena event.
Tenaril and Tobius soon found themselves caught-up with Morien Fireheart's mercenaries, particularly his sister Ilitha and his second-in-command Laerith. After evading the Saurus captain
Hzlochti's pursuit, Ilitha was captured by skink Terradon riders prompting Laerith and Tenaril to lead a small strike force through the undercity to rescue her.
Kalerin meanwhile ran into his old comrades, Arenath's Grey Serpents at Prince Althion's Arena of Honour. It was here also that he first met the renegade Dark Elf Hanzin Lorrdhe. The two formed an immediate enmity, with Kalerin defeating Hanzin in the arena tournament before being bested in turn by the saurus
Lotl-Botl.
Around this time, The Master sent Malorane and the two Narrenzarth Arklith and Skretik to the city to monitor events there and search for the amulet. Malorane quickly saw an opportunity for a cover, claiming the Bloodfury Arena in the jungles as a base where, under the guise of hosting a League Tournament, he and the Narrenzarth began their investigations. Among those hired by Malorane for this event were Mirrelana, a young healer, and Dalrith, a minor noble who served as announcer for the fights.
Another notable figure was the Cathayan sword-dancer, Heian Lieren. A member of a particularly unsavoury chaos cult, who had clashed with the Exodians before, she had come to Rezephua on her 'hunt' shortly before The Showdown. She had made contact with Dalrith before the fighting broke-out, thinking to use him to help her find worthy foes.
Once Vellinor was finally defeated by the combined might of the Slann Lords, the elves were reunited with each other, while Yaerdor secretly made contact with Heian, unaware of her true identity, recruiting her as an ally. Meanwhile, the Exodians stepped-up their search, with The Master sending Lekina and Ku'Ere to Rezephua to assist in the hunt.
In the Arena of Death 20, Lekina encountered the Shadow Warrior Ailanna who, along with her band, had been sent by a mysterious source to capture the very same Amulet. They fought, with Ailanna capturing the Dark Elf for question only for Lekina to escape her clutches. Before Lekina could be recaptured, Ailanna and her band were betrayed by one of their own who managed to kill all of his former comrades and leave Ailanna for dead, where she was eventually rescued by Morien Fireheart.
Lekina's luck did not last long however, and she was soon tracked and cornered by The Grey Serpents. After taking an arrow through the heart, Lekina was teleported back to the Bloodfury Arena, where Kise was forced to take temporary possession of Mirrelana's body in order to revive the elf.
After being reunited with Morien Fireheart's exiles, Tenaril and his own allies began discussing the situation at hand, with particular emphasis expressed on how Ailanna's experiences related to the group pursuing them. The questions were only deepened when they were ambushed by a group of soldiers dressed in white cloaks, seemingly intent on claiming the amulet for themselves.
These same Whitecloaks also seemed to have a connection with the arena at Salzburger's Flying Circus, which saw the arrival of the golem Druhl-Irach. Following the assassination of Slazburger by the Whitecloaks and the arena's closing, Yaerdor contacted the golem.
Meanwhile, the Exodians solidified their presence with The Master directly teleporting the remaining Narrenzarth, Theremhoff and the dwarf Granirk, along with the recently recruited wood elf Yilairiel and small a company of warriors under the command of Marcus Farrier to the Arena itself. After sending a hasty message to Heian, Dalrith fled while Mirrelana was seized and imprisoned awaiting execution. Upon receiving his message, Heian, on Yaerdor's suggestion, requested the help of the vampire Lord Serrenahl and set-out to meet him in the jungles. Meanwhile, as the tournament at the Bloodfury Arena drew to a close, Mirrelana was freed by a now repentant Granirk. The dwarf, having renounced his allegiance to The Exodians, tried to help her escape along with the Swordmaster Halinar.

Before they could flee however, they were ambushed by Arklith and Yilairiel. Granirk was slain while Halinar and Mirrelana were only just saved from death by the timely arrival of Druhl-Irach, who took Mirrelana back to the city with him while Halinar escaped via a different route.
Heian and her new undead allies, shortly after meeting-up with Dalrith found themselves in a fight with the remaining Narrenzarth led by Ku'ere and supported by Marcus' warriors. Serranahl himself was killed and his forces wiped out, while Heian and Dalrith were rescued by Yaerdor who led them back to the city under a magical fog.

The Exodians wasted little time before pursuing. With Yilairiel now taking Granirk's place amongst the Narrenzarth he, Arklith and Lekina stole into the city to pursue the elves. After obtaining a room at one of the city's resurrection centres to use as a base, Yilairiel entered Swordsalot's third Arena of Death. Arklith and Lekina meanwhile were ambushed and defeated by a group of Whitecloaks.
Outside of the city, Skretik and Theremhoff encountered Ailanna Rowanshade and Morien Fireheart at the second Arena of Bone. A violent conflict between them and Fireheart's soldiers was only just averted by the intervention of the Arena's hostess Aelya Flarestar.
Within the city, Tenaril and the other elves met with Mirrelana Lawdmoor and the Golem Druhl-Irach. The healer explained as best she could all she had been able to discover about the Narrenzarth while she had worked at the Bloodfury League. For their part, Heian and Dalrith accidentally got caught-up in a tavern brawl at Zabar's Skink Eatery. Theremhoff meanwhile successfully gained access to the city by joining The Arena of Spirit where he, Lekina and Yilairiel narrowly missed capturing Morien, Ailanna and Laerith.
Heian mysteriously vanished, leaving Dalrith and Yaerdor to continue their vigil alone. Kalerin left the city, attempting to find Morien and pass-on what they had learned, winding-up in the second Arena of the Exalted. Arklith, catching wind of the elf's movement's, attempted to follow him but was too late.
It was at this point that the Rezephua Intelligence Division, under the command of councillor Tehuti, became involved. During the Bloodfury Tournament, Malorane, who had only just finished dealing with a whitecloak attack owing to the capture of the halfling Berilac, was called before the skink council to explain himself and give his word that he would not harm the city. It was at this point that Volagan's mercenaries, the Blooded Wolves, arrived in Lustria under covert instructions to assist the Narrenzarth in any way possible.
The Intelligence Division was not satisfied, however. They orchestrated the capture of Damien Theremhoff following his defeat at the 22nd Arena of Death. His escape knocked out one of the wards of the Temple of Tepok, resulting in a titanic magical blast detonating over the city. Not one to be easily dissuaded, Tehuti cut a deal with the vampiress Selena to get her to spy on the Exodians at their arena.
As the 23rd Arena of Death was fought, the Red Vulture and her crew arrived in the Rezephua. Xaicopatzic, suspicious of these newcomers, lead an 'investigation' of the ship but found nothing incriminating. When Ailanna Rowanshade snuck onboard that same night however, she discovered rather more, bearing witness to Theremhoff's arrival onboard the vessel and learning that the Exodians were a separate group from the Whitecloaks the elves had previously encountered.
During the arena itself, Tehuti recruited Hanzin Lorrdhe to assist in his investigations, while Heian, reborn as a true daemon tested her new-found abilities.
After reassuming her human guise, the girl met-up with Dalrith during the Arena of Carnage. Two of the skinks sent to shadow the Narrenzarth within the city met with a rather grisly death when they accidentally revealed themselves to Yilairiel. This would prove to be a mistake on the wood elf's part, and a very significant one.
While the 24th Arena of Death was being held, Arklith finally caught-up with Kalerin in the streets of the lower tier. After a desperately close fight, the elf managed to escape thanks to the timely arrival of the saurus guards. Arriving at The Talon he learned of the presence of the Blooded Wolves. After some discussion, he reluctantly agreed to bring Tenaril and the amulet to The Talon and in so doing set a trap for the enemy mercenaries. While Arenath and some of the Grey Serpents escorted the humans and the Amulet to the docks via a safer and less direct route, Tenaril would be met by a contingent of Morien's mercenaries to act as bait. The plan worked, and a vicious street battle broke out between the humans and the elves. The situation rapidly spiralled out of control however, with the Order of the Coatl plucking Tenaril and Kalerin out of the melee just as the saurus cohorts under Xaicopatzic's enraged leadership, descended upon the two groups, arresting the survivors and driving both ships out of the port.

With the New One's Quarter closed off, Arenath and the humans were left stranded, only for Yaerdor to finally reveal himself to them. Although harbouring deep suspicions about the wraith, Arenath relented and allowed the spectre to lead the group to the Crippled Crow Inn, where they met Heian and Mirrelana was reunited with Dalrith.
Xaicopatzic, eager to find someone to blame for the deaths of the two skink agents, began 'questioning' his prisoners during the 25th Arena of Death. He also ordered the capture and arrest of Malorane, prompting Skretik to flee into the city itself for a short time. Having got little in the way of useful information from his captured prisoners, the Scar-Leader sent-out orders to apprehend the two elves who had avoided capture, Kalerin and Tenaril, in the hopes of getting some real answers. The two elves were with The Order of Coatl, who had just met with Arenath, Yaerdor and the others at the Crippled Crow Inn. The two groups had barely begun to become acquainted however, before Xaicopatzic found them and dragged them into custody, demolishing half the building in the process. Only Heian and two of the Grey Serpents, Nephalion and Ulen, were able to avoid capture.
Meanwhile, The Talon and The Vulture clashed in a naval battle. Although initially outgunned, the Talon swiftly gained the upper hand thanks to the timely arrival of a second elven warship, crewed by warriors under the command of Archmage Xethaeron. The Vulture managed to escape destruction however, thanks to the use of one of Theremhoff's devices.
Back on land, the Slann Lord himself, angered by the amount of destruction that had been caused, directly intervened. Both the elves and Malorane were released, while the remainder of the Blooded Wolf prisoners were thrown into the river to be eaten by piranha, a fate which only Volagan managed to escape from. Heian and the two other Grey Serpents were ambushed by Arklith and Yilairiel. Heian succeeded in driving them back in her daemon form, but the shadow warriors were not so lucky, Nephalion slain by Yilairiel and Ulen killed by Heian to prevent him from revealing her true nature.
The elves had barely left the prison however, before they were ambushed by the Whitecloaks. They were only saved by the timely arrival of a group of swordmasters, under the command of Asrion. After being brought back to The Talon, the loremaster Xethaeron revealed the true identity of their white-clad enemies: The Ascentors. Malorane meanwhile encountered the injured Volagan in the jungles, and brought him back to the Bloodfury Arena.
Although he had been officially ordered to abandon his pursuit of the Narrenzarth, Tehuti had no intention of letting the matter drop. Following a period of Strife in the Streets, the Order of Coatl succeeded, on his orders, in taking control of a small human vessel, with the intent of following the Red Vulture and spying on her crew. They approached the Fireheart mercenaries about the matter and, after some deliberation, Laerith agreed to take a company of elves to assist the skinks. The skinks did manage to sneak on board, making off with some documents. However, two of the spies were captured in the process, prompting the order to resort to more aggressive measures once the Vulture had anchored for repairs. The two skinks were freed but although the accompanying Kroxigor were able to inflict some serious damage they had not counted on the presence of Malorane and Volagan, who had arrived shortly before the assault began. The skinks and elves were forced to retreat leaving the Vulture crippled but still afloat.

Things on the shore were no less eventful. Arklith, Lekina and Yilairiel attacked The Talon and came perilously close to seizing the amulet from Tobius. Following Yaerdor's advice, the elves launched a counter-offensive against the building which the Narrenzarth were using as a base within the city. During the battle, Heian revealed her true form and in the ensuing pandemonium the three Narrenzarth escaped, fleeing out of the city to the Bloodfury Arena.
Reacting quickly to the new turn of events, Malorane began an arena championship to provide a cover for a particularly elaborate scheme. Having secretly secured the services of a quartet of assassins/mercenaries, he sent Skretik into the city to stage a fake assault on The Talon once Kalerin, Asrion, Tenaril and Ailanna (at Yaerdor's urgings) had left to carry out a scouting mission at the arena. The attack was mostly successful, drawing Morien and a company of his warriors away before assaulting the ship. The archmage Xethaeron was injured and Laerith, thinking the river safe, cast off and took The Talon out of the city leaving Morien and Yaerdor behind. He had thought incorrectly however. Theremhoff had been lying in wait on the bank, and ran crashed the ship on the far bank with a controlled waterspout conjured through his weather tripod. Although Tehuti and the order were able to steal the device away, the damage had already been done and the elves found themselves trapped by the return of a hastily repaired Vulture. Reacting quickly, Arenath and the surviving grey serpents spirited the humans and the amulet away from the stricken ship in an attempt to reach the safety of Rezephua.
They had not counted on Malorane's planning. Swapping places with Uri Udenritch before the arena even began in earnest, Malorane had spent the entire time safely onboard The Vulture. As soon as the Talon had been driven ashore, he and Volagan along with a small contingent of warriors had also landed and set off to encircle the stranded elves. The aim was to launch a surgical strike when the Vulture and her crew began their assault, capturing The Amulet and destroying the elves magical advantage. This plan required Lekina who had been stealthily shadow the Talon since it was driven back downstream. When she met with the strike team shortly before the attack however she brought news of the flight of the Grey Serpents and the Amulet, which she had observed. Malorane quickly abandoned his initial plan, and lead Lekina and Volagan's strike force in pursuit of the elves and humans, even as the Bloodfury championship wound to a close.
Unaware of this series of events, the elves at the Talon were joined by Tehuti who, anxious not to let the Bloodied Wolves succeed, sent up a signal to the
outriders for aid. Almost the entire flight responded. However, on their flight they encountered the daemonic Heian, who was tracking the Amulet's journey from the sky. A long air-battle ensued and Heian eventually perished. The fight however had guaranteed that neither she nor the Outriders were free to intervene in the other two battles that had also begun.
The first such battle occurred at the Bloodfury arena. With the Championship over, Morien and a score of his warriors along with Ailanna, Asrion, Kalerin and Tenaril stormed the arena, assisted by Selena and Yaerdor. Although they succeeded in killing Ku'ere, Udenritch and Marcus' remaining guard as well as defeating the Narrenzarth, it was a pyrrhic victory. Yaerdor was finally destroyed by Ku'ere shortly before the latter's death and the four Narrenzarth there were simply transported to The Vulture by their gem stones.
The second battle took place in the jungle, where Malorane, Lekina and Volagan's strike force finally caught-up with the fleeing elves, humans and golem. After an incredibly bloody fight, only Malorane and Lekina remained alive, with The Amulet in their possession.
Using his shadow magic, Malorane flew both of them to the Vulture and gave the order to leave. By the time the outriders arrived it was too late and, despite managing to catch up with the ship itself, there was nothing Tehuti could do to halt its voyage. The Amulet was in Exodian hands and soon to be given to their Master. The conflict it had spawned was over. Months would pass and no one in Rezephua would hear of the Narrenzarth or their master, save through the occasional dark muttering from Kalerin which few not involved in the original conflict would even care to listen to.
Little did anyone realise however, that The Master of the Exodians was far from done with Rezephua or that one day the city would find itself trapped in The Poisoned Web.
